Tree Top hospital to be inaugurated by the end of this month

Chief Executive Officer of Tree Top Hospital Grant Muddle has revealed the world class healthcare facility is all set to be inaugurated by the end of this month. With its inauguration, Tree Top Hospital would mark history by becoming the first multi specialist healthcare facility in the Maldives.

The development of the health sector is one of the prime focuses of the Administration and under the objective, the development of a tertiary level hospital in Hulhumale' was an electoral pledge of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. One of the major aims of developing a tertiary level hospital in Hulhumale' is to decrease the number of Maldivians travelling abroad for medical treatment.

Turkey-based Alke-Turmacs was contracted to design and develop the tertiary level hospital in Hulhumale' with Ramsay Sim Darby of Malaysia contracted to manage the hospital. The 6-storey Tree Top Hospital was developed along with an 8-storey support building which would have a staff accommodation block.

Briefing the media after touring the hospital, Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim revealed that all legal documentations to begin the functioning of the hospital have now been completed. Minister Nazim cited that work permits have been provided for doctors hired by the hospital. Continuing on, the Maldivian Health Minister said discussions have been conducted to begin Aasandha healthcare insurance services at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Tree Top Hospital Grant Muddle said the world class healthcare facility is all set to be inaugurated by the end of this month.

"We are very close to opening. We are very excited to be opening soon. We are very excited about adding into Maldivian health services. We have been discussing for a long time with public healthcare providers and other private health care providers in the country and we got to a working partnership to improve healthcare outcomes for the people of Maldives. We are to open very soon. We are looking forward to work with our first patients in the country in the coming weeks ahead," Grant Muddle said.

Tree Top Hospital would provide over 700 job opportunities, mainly targeted for Maldivians, with 275 employees already recruited. The hospital, which was developed at a cost of USD 80 million, is the largest investment by a private company in the healthcare sector and is expected to provide the best medical services in the Maldives.
