Safe water will be established in Eydhafushi within 2 months

Eydhafushi Island Council has revealed safe water systems will be established in the island within two months. Water pipes will be installed in the new reclaimed area of the island, stated the President of Eydhafushi Council Tholaal Abdul Rahman. He said pipe connections will be provided for households starting from next month.

Noting that the number of residents of Eydhafushi using bottled water have increased over the years, the Island Council assured that expenses on water will be decreased with the establishment of the safe water system.

The project to establish a safe water system in Eydhafushi is funded by the Government and a loan from OPEC Fund for International Development. A water supply network spanning 15 kilometres and a 192 tonne reverse osmosis plant will be established in Eydhafushi as part of the project, according to Environment Ministry.
