The Maldivian administration has the capacity to tackle the challenges in the internal affairs of Maldives and peace and harmony has been established in all corners of Maldives, the Fisheries Minister said in an exclusive interview with NDTV.

The Administration of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has declared the State of Emergency on certain areas and assured that the declaration has not harmed the peace and harmony of the nation, Fisheries Minister Mohamed Shainee told the Indian television channel. Minister Shainee highlighted that the Maldivian security forces has started investigating the attempted coup and stated that solid proof has been attained against individuals who has been arrested under this investigation.

"Ex-President Maumoon is alleged for bribing these judges and others parliament members to create this scenario in the first place. Otherwise those opposition leaders that you sight nothing has happened to them at all. So yes the situation is under control and we are looking into it," Minister Shainee said.

Refuting claims by the international community that Maldives has undermined the rule of law, Minister Shainee called on these parties to look into facts before coming to a conclusion on the current political status of the country. On this note Minister Shainee stated that Maldives respects the concerns raised by international communities but reiterated the commitment of Maldives in not allowing foreign influences into the internal matters in Maldives.
