Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has launched the construction phase of two towers, as part of the largest social housing project initiated in the country. MACL contracted China's Beijing Urban Construction Group to build two housing towers. The 15-storey towers would accommodate 1 and 3 room apartments, according to MACL.
The company has always prioritised the betterment and advancement of its staff, Managing Director of MACL Adil Moosa said addressing the ceremony after launching the construction phase of two towers. Managing Director Adil Moosa revealed the company attaches high hope that the project would be completed successfully. Adil Moosa said the management of MACL would provide easy payment schemes for the staff who apply for the apartments from the towers.
President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom inaugurated the Hiyaa Housing Project, as part of the administration's housing policy. The Hiyaa Housing Project is aimed at resolving the housing issues faced by around eighty thousand individuals of the population.
A total of 1080 housing units will be developed in 36 towers, which would include apartments of 1 bedroom, 2 bedrooms and 3 bedrooms. Private companies along with state companies and government offices are part of the first of its kind mega housing project.
