Supreme Court rejects case filed to impeach President

Supreme Court of Maldives has rejected case filed by the opposition coalition to impeach President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

The case was filed by former President Mohamed Nasheed and former President Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom along with Leader of Jumhooree Party Gasim Ibrahim and Deputy Leader of Adhaalath Party Ali Zahir.

The bench rejected the case as it was not filed in accordance with the provisions in Article 113 of the Maldivian Constitution, according to the Supreme Court.
