Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has revealed that more than 4,000 people have signed as new members within the past six days. At a ceremony held at PPM conference hall, the membership forms were presented to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
The increase of members prove the strong bond within the party and that the failed coup is serving to further enhance the relationship within Government and PPM, Deputy Leader of PPM, Abdul Raheem Abdulla said while addressing the function. He confirmed the commitment of PPM towards the Government noting that the failed coup has cultivated new hope and support to secure the presidency in the upcoming presidential election.
The President, First Lady, cabinet ministers, and other government officials attended the function.
In the past few years, PPM has become the largest political party in Maldives.
