President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has discussed the current situation of the Maldives with cabinet ministers at a meeting held at President's Office.
During the meeting President asserted that the decisions taken during the past few days were monitored and in accordance with the constitution, laws and legal advises. Normal situation of the country is maintained, despite the declaration of State of Emergency, the President said addressing the cabinet members. Furthermore, President lauded the firm support and cooperation shown by the Cabinet Ministers during this critical period for the country.
President Yameen declared a State of Emergency on February 5 for a period of 15 days to addresses certain internal aspects of governance. Government assures that the State of Emergency would not the tourism industry of Maldives pledging to ensure the safety of tourists.
