President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent members of his cabinet as envoys to friendly nations to provide updates on the current situation in the country.
Under the objective, Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed departed to China, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim departed to Pakistan and Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr. Mohamed Shainee departed to visit Saudi Arabia. Earlier the Maldivian government has invited the development partners and representatives from international organisations and associations to visit the Maldives to assess the situation in the Maldives.
President Yameen declared a State of Emergency on February 5 for a 15 days to addresses certain internal aspects of governance and affects mostly the capital city Male', and not tourist resorts, tourist islands and tourism industry in general.
