President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has lauded the security forces of the country for always putting forth national security above all.
During his speech at a gathering held by the ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), President Abdulla Yameen with gratitude noted the organised coup was averted due to the unwavering loyalty of the security forces towards the government and the nation. No chances will be given to the opposition to create such chaos in the Maldives, stated the President.
President mentioned that the security forces had full faith in the President and supported all of the decisions without any hesitations, adding that the coup would not have been eliminated without the loyalty of the forces stating that the Supreme Court's ruling on February 1 was fully planned to overthrow the lawful government and to create chaos in the country and to undermine the trust of foreigners in Maldives.
Moreover, President appealed to all Maldivians to put forth patience, patriotism and move forward with sincerity. The main purpose of him entering into politics was not to misuse public resources or not to mislead the country, but with a good intention of serving with devotion and assured that he will remain serving the country, added the President.
On conclusion, the President called upon the Maldivian community to maintain national peace throughout the upcoming presidential election.
