Association for Travel Agents (ATA) has emphasised that Maldives is safe for tourists despite the declaration of a State of Emergency in the country.
The State of Emergency will not compromise the safety of tourists and travelers, highlighting that unrest is only in capital Male' and since the resorts and hotels are located to other islands, it will not cause any hindrances, ATA said in a statement. The Association assured that tourists are directly transferred to their booked resorts or hotels without stay overs in capital city.
Furthermore, the statement noted that local businesses and livelihoods are not affected. Government of Maldives will ensure the safety of the tourists and locals alike, assured ATA.
The Government of Maldives reiterates that despite the declaration of State of Emergency, there will be no impact on hotels, resorts or any other businesses operating in the Maldives tourism sector.
