Minister of Defence and National Security Adam Shareef Umar has stated that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has emerged victorious in nullifying an attempted coup ignited by the opposition.
In a video interview with PSM News, the Maldivian Defence Minister applauded the strategic steps initiated by President Yameen to stop the attempt to topple the government. Briefing on the current situation in Maldives with State of Emergency, Defence Minister Adam Shareef Umar assured all Maldivians and the international community that the government prioritises the safety of all Maldivians and foreigners living in and visiting the Maldives.
Bilateral relations with foreign countries are strong and robust through this political turmoil, assured the Defence Minister.
