Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has granted USD 20 million to establish the South Regional Waste Management Centre. The funds will be used to purchase and install an incinerator in Hithadhoo of Addu city, as part of the South Regional Waste Management Centre, said the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
The waste management centre established in Hithadhoo will dispose waste collected from Gaafu Alifu Atoll, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Fuvahmulah city and Addu city. The incinerator to be installed in Hithadhoo will have the capacity to dispose 40 tonnes of waste per day, according to Environment Ministry.
Environment Ministry will establish the South Regional Waste Management Centre from funds allocated from the state budget and loan aid from Abu Dhabi Fund.
