President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has conveyed gratitude and appreciation for the continuous support and services provided to the Maldives during the tenure of Ambassador of Pakistan to the Maldives Vice Admiral Retired Syed Khawar Ali Shah. The President made the remarks during the farewell call of the Pakistani Ambassador.
During the call, the Maldivian President conveyed greetings and good wishes to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, President Mamnoon Hussain and the people of Pakistan. Noting that the Maldives and Pakistan have enjoyed historic and close bilateral ties based on mutual respect, understanding and shared values, the President expressed hope and confidence that the Maldives and Pakistan will continue working together on regional and international issues of mutual concern, to further strengthen the existing ties between the two countries.
The Ambassador emphasised that it was an immense pleasure to have served as the Ambassador of Pakistan to the Maldives. He noted that Pakistan and the Maldives have always had excellent relations and that the two countries have become even closer in all spheres of life in recent years. Maldives stands as an example to other Islamic nations and highlighted that the Maldives has attained all the indicators of a successful middle-income country, further noted the Ambassador.
Vice Admiral Retired Syed Khawar Ali Shah was appointed as the Ambassador of Pakistan to the Maldives in 2015.
