Maldives participates in BOOT 2018 in Düsseldorf, Germany

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has showcased Maldives in BOOT 2018 held in Dusseldorf, Germany from January 20-28. 5 officials from 7 companies are representing Maldives as a destination in the fair this year, according to MMPRC. The Maldivian delegation is headed by Acting Managing Director of MMPRC, Haris Mohamed and Ambassador of Maldives to Germany Jameela Ali Khalid.

BOOT is one of the leading boat and watersports fairs in the world and is the key meeting point for industry personals every year. Over 1,800 exhibitors, 900 of them from more than 60 countries apart from Germany, will be presenting their innovations, attractive developments and maritime products during the fair. To attract more visitors to the fair, MMPRC opened an extended flat water standing wave and a skim boarding facility for visitors. With 99% water and the unique underwater beauty, dive segment is an important segment to the destination.

A large number Germans are motivated to visit Maldives because of the underwater beauty, according to the latest Visitor Survey of Maldives conducted by Ministry of Tourism. In 2017, 103,067 tourist arrivals were recorded from Germany, which is an increase of 4.7% compared to the previous year. Germany is the second largest tourist market for Maldives, with an 8.3% market share in 2017.
