Ambassador of Maldives to European Union Ahmed Shian has assured that arrangements will be made to issue Schenghen Visa in Maldives. In an exclusive interview with PSM News, Ambassador Ahmed Shian stated that European Union assuranced that arrangements will be made to issue Schenghen Visa in Maldives.
In recent years, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working towards organizing means for Maldivians to obtain Schenghen visa without travelling to Sri Lanka. The Ambassador revealed, discussions were focused on these arrangements with the visiting high-level European Union delegation. The Maldivian Government aims to complete the arrangement within 3 to 4 months, affirmed Ambassador Shian.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been making special arrangements to ease difficulties faced by Maldivians to obtain visa to travel to UK. As part of the effort, every year in August, Foreign Ministry invites officials from the UK Embassy in Colombo to visit Maldives in order to process visa applications.
