Ministry of Education has revealed that 36 teachers provided by Saudi Arabian Government will start teaching in various schools to boost Arabic education in Maldives. Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham stated that one major object of the education policy of this government is upholding and enhancing Islamic Education.
Noting that Arabic language is taught in some schools, the Education Minister expressed hope to establish Arabic language teaching in all the remaining schools. Minister thanked the Saudi Arabian Government for the assistance in enhancing the education system, highlighting that Arab countries support Maldives in its efforts to uphold Islamic education.
Currently, Arabic language is being taught in 65 schools across the country.
