Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has commenced the construction 3 towers in Hulhumale', as part of the largest housing project, "Hiyaa", initiated by the Maldivian Government, becoming the first company to commence the construction of the housing towers. In this regard, MPL will construct 3 towers of 14-storeys. The towers will consist of 204 single housing units and 330 three-room housing units.
Speaking at the official ceremony held to commence the construction of the towers, CEO of MPL Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem stated that the housing units acknowledge the hard work of the staff force and noted that it would boost the living condition of the staff. MPL contracted the construction and development of the project to a Singapore company.
"Hiyaa" housing project was initiated by the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom aimed at resolving the housing issues faced by a population of 80,000 people. Under the project, a total of 100,080 housing units will be developed in 36 towers in the second phase of Hulhumale'.
