Maafushi Water Sports and Public Service Media (PSM) has held "Raalhu-Gudi", a kite surfing event, in the islands of Maafushi and Villimale'.
The Maldives is a perfect destination for kitesurfing and kiteboarding, particularly in the seasons when the weather conditions are perfect with strong, constant winds and warm sunshine. However it is possible to kitesurf, windsurf and sail all year round in the Maldives, particularly for beginners who wish to take lessons.
Maafushi Water Sports and Public Service Media (PSM)'s Maldives TV has taken the initiative to organize a kite surfing event in the islands of Maafushi and Villimale'. Named 'Raalhu Gudi", the event which started in Vilimale' was an open event for the public to showcase their talent. The event was carried out in the waters between the islands Villimale' and Maafushi.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Minister of Youth and Sports Iruthishaam Adam stated that this event marks the biggest gathering of kite surfers in Maldives and assured that the ministry would provide full support to all such events carried out in all parts of the country. Minister Iruthishaam applauded the participation of members from resorts and the strength of youth in this event, stating that such events bring forth the unity that exist in the Maldivian community.
