Vice President Abdulla Jihad has attended the ceremony to mark the National Unity Day.
The National Day of Unity of the Maldives is observed in remembrance of the spirit of national unity and solidarity shown by the people of Maldives in the immediate aftermath of the 2004 tsunami.
At the ceremony held in front of the President’s Office, the Vice President was accompanied by cabinet ministers and senior government officials.
At today’s ceremony, a moment of silence was observed, in remembrance of the people who lost their lives in the 2004 tsunami, followed by a special prayer. The ceremony was concluded with the national anthem.
