Maldives and Malaysia sign four key agreements

Maldives and Malaysia signed four key agreements as part of the official visit of Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Abdul Razak to Maldives. The key agreements signed between Maldives and Malaysia were in the fields of education, health, fire fighting and culture.

In this regard, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim and Malaysian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Reezal Merican Naina Merican signed the Memorandum of Understanding to establish a Maldives Cultural Centre in Malaysia.  

Minister of Defence and National Security Adam Shareef and Malaysian Minister of Urban Wellbeing and Local Government Noh bin Haji Omar signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Co-operation in the field of Fire Fighting and Rescue Training.

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham and Malaysian Minister of Higher Education Idris Bin Jusoh signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Higher Education.

Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim and Malaysian Minister of Health Dr. Subramaniam Sathasivam signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Health.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and the Malaysia Prime Minister witnessed the signing ceremony. Prior to the signing ceremony, President Yameen and the Malaysian Prime Minister had a one-to-one meeting at the President's Office. Official talks were also held between the government of Maldives and the government of Malaysia.
