Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim has revealed that a roadmap on energy resources would be launched next year. The Environment Minister made the statement at the unveiling ceremony of the databook on the statistics of energy resources in Maldives. Minister Thoriq noted the efforts of the government to provide sufficient energy and resources to all parts of the country.
The Island Electricity Databook unveiled by the Minister includes information on electricity conditions in the islands. In addition, the databook also includes information on the amount of electricity generated in island communities and resorts. The databook sheds light on the achievements of Maldives in producing renewable energy within the last decade.
A total of 628 gigawatts of electricity was used in 2016, according to the databook.
