The administration prioritises involving youth in development

Minister of Youth and Sports Iruthisham Adam has stated that the administration prioritises involving youth and that without the involvement of youth, no country would reach its full potential.

Speaking at the ceremony held to mark the National Youth Day, Minister of Youth and Sports Iruthisham Adam stated that the importance given by the administration for youth development is evident and noted that the government shaped its relevant policies to involve youth more efficiently. Youth Minister Iruthisham also stated that the government initiated projects targeting the youth community.

Furthermore, Minister Iruthisham noted that President Yameen's visionary agenda paves way for youth development. 80% of the youth and sports manifesto has been achieved by the administration, reiterated the Youth Minister.

The Minister also affirmed that Maldives achieved a lot in the international arena during the past four years.

National Youth Awards were conferred to 8 individuals by the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. The most prestigious award, Martyr Jawaad Umar commemorative plaque was awarded to Ahmed Shafiu who had saved a five year old child and mother. Martyr Jawaad Umar commemorative plaque is awarded to acts of bravery and courage.

The National Youth Awards are presented to appreciate and encourage young people between the ages of 18 and 35, who contribute exemplary services to the country. This year's slogan for National Youth Day is "Youth participation, Nation's future".
