Foreign Minister highlights contribution of Australian Government

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim has highlighted the contribution of the Australian Government towards capacity building in the Maldives. Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim attended the reception as Chief Guest of the ceremony.

During his remarks at the reception hosted by Ambassador of Australia Bryce Hutchesson to congratulate and bid farewell to the recipients of Australia Awards Scholarships, Foreign Minister Dr. Asim described the long-standing bilateral ties between the Maldives and Australia as an exemplary partnership and expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Government of Australia, for the commitment shown towards strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister further highlighted the contribution of the Australian Government towards human capacity building in the Maldives and thanked the Government of Australia for its generous assistance in this area, through the Australia Awards scheme.

In his remarks, the Australian Ambassador noted his pleasure that the Australian graduates have been contributing to the socio-economic development of the Maldives serving in productive roles at all walks of life, including senior positions at the government and the private sector. Minister Asim congratulated the Maldivian recipients of the Australia Awards 2018 and wished them well in their future endeavors.
