Government of Maldives has received USD 16 million from customs duty and fees in the month of October this year. This is an increase of 16% compared to the USD 14 million received from import duty and fees in 2016.
CIF of the import recorded an increase of 18% compared to 2016, according to the latest statistics of Maldives Customs Services shows that during last October. Furthermore, In October 2017, Maldives imported products worth USD 208 million, compared to the products worth USD 175.6 million imported in the same period of last year. In this regard, 17% of the imported products were from UAE, with 15% from Singapore, 13% from India, 11% from China and 8% of the products imported from Malaysia.
Products exported in October this year increased by 22% compared to 2016, according to the statistics. In October 2017, products worth USD 27.3 million were exported from Maldives, while products worth USD 22.3 million were exported during the same period of last year.
