European tourist arrivals to Maldives increase by 10.5 percent

Tourist arrivals to Maldives from Europe increased by 10.5 percent from January to September 2017, compared to the same period of 2016, according to statistics revealed by Ministry of Tourism.

The statistics showed that 449,833 tourists visited to the Maldives from Europe during the first 9 months of the year, which is an increase of 42,673, compared to the same period of last year. Tourist arrivals from Europe in the first 9 months of 2016 was at 470,160.

Tourist arrival from all European markets saw a significant increase, according to the statistics. The government through Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has launched several initiatives to market the country abroad.
