Chief of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Major General Ahmed Shiyam has departed to India to participate in Goa Maritime Conclave.
According to MNDF, Major General Ahmed Shiyam will address on the last day of the forum held on the theme, Addressing Regional Maritime Challenges. In addition to Maldives and India, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Seychelles, Myanmar, and Bangladesh are to participate in the two day forum.
The Goa Maritime Conclave, to be inaugurated by Minister of Defence of India Nirmala Sitharaman, is aimed at establishing academic excellence, sharing of ideas and finding collective solutions to maritime issues of interest in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). The forum, origanised by Naval War College (NWC) in Goa, will conclude on November 2.
