President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that he would not tolerate anyone with the motive of causing damage to the country. The President made the statement while speaking at a function organised by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
There should not be any place or post for people who work to undermine the religious belief of the nation, President Yameen said. Continuing on, President Yameen reassured that today there are no political detainees in the Maldives. He said that any Maldivian political figures held in custody are being detained in accordance with deliberations by the judiciary, serving sentences which are results of offences they have committed.
The President was accompanied at the function by First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim, members of the cabinet, members of parliament and senior officials of the administration.
