MPL says port in Maamigili would ease obstacles faced in Male'

CEO of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem has stated the establishment of Maamigili International Port would ease the obstacles and challenges faced by North Male' Harbour.

Speaking on Zimma TV programme, aired on PSM News, CEO of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem stated that the development of the economic sector reflects on the inflation of goods imported to Maldives. The CEO of MPL said the increase in goods imported to Maldives, the demand for North Male' Harbour has also increased, as MPL has been exerting various efforts to expand its services.  On this note, CEO Abdul Razzaq Haleem highlighted that establishing an international port in Maamigili would ease the obstacles and challenges faced by North Male' Harbour.

The international port established at Maamigili Island of Alifu Dhaalu Atoll would give a boost to the economic sector of Maldives, according to the CEO of MPL. The core objective of developing the Maamigili International Port is to attract break bulk cargo shipments to the area, as it would be the best way to utilise the port, he further revealed.  

With the growing tourism development efforts in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll, MPL aims to introduce additional services with the establishment of an international port in Maamigili. On this context, the CEO of MPL highlighted bond facilities, warehouse facilities, fuel storage services, water plant services and cold storage services would be available with the completion of the port.
