Maldives holds discussion rounds with Bahraini authorities

Maldives holds discussion rounds with Bahraini authorities to exert collaborative efforts to tackle the challenges faced by small nations in delivering services for people with special needs.

The discussion round was held during the official trip of Minister of Gender and Family Aishath Zenysha Shaheed Zaki to Bahrain. During her trip, the Maldivian Gender Minister met with the Minister of Labor and Social Development of Bahrain Jameel bin Mohammad Ali Humaidan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa.

While meeting the Bahraini Ministers, Gender Minister Zenysha noted the obstacles and challenges faced by Maldives in delivering services to people with special needs and discussed ways in which both countries can collaborate to overcome the obstacles and challenges. Furthermore, Minister Zenysha also visited the community centre, kids shelter centre, old age shelter centre, old age day care centre which functions under the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of Bahrain. In addition, the Gender Minister also called on the Secretary General of Bahrain's Supreme council for Women Hala Mohamed Jabrah Al Ansari and the board members of Bahrain Women Association, which is the leading local organisation in the country.

In these meetings, Minister Zenysha discussed on protection of the rights of women, providing equal and fair opportunity for women and women empowerment programmes. Minister Zenysha also visited the Sheikh Ibrahim Bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa Culture and Research Centre.
