Maldives Olympic committee and Japan sign a memorandum

Maldives Olympic Committee and Japan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Mayor of Odawara city Kenichi Kato and Vice President of Maldives Olympic Committee Ahmed Latheef.

The Memorandum is aimed at establishing a cooperative relationship between the Committee and Odawara city prior to the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and beyond. Under the Memorandum, training of Maldivian athletes and cultural and environmental exchanges between Odawara city and Maldives have been envisaged. The initiative to establish the relationship was taken by Ambassador Khaleel and pursued by Ambassador Shareef during his term of office in Tokyo.

Moreover, an Action Plan will soon be worked out to give effect to the Memorandum and it is expected that training and exchanges would begin by early 2018.
