Workshop held on impacts of climate change on children

Ministry of Environment and Energy, jointly with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), hold a dissemination workshop for the study on Impacts of Climate Change on Children.

The meeting was attended by a total of 20 stakeholders from government organisations and non-government organisations. Discussions were held regarding the impacts of climate change on children and the drafted report on the subject. The report was drafted after conducting a survey in 6 islands of Maldives. In the workshop, findings of the survey and report were presented, followed by discussions and comments of the participants.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Environment Ajwad Musthafa said that such meetings will result in addressing issues faced by children in the community due to climate change and such environmental issues. Such meetings will result in drafting of more effective policies to address the impact of climate change on children, according to the Permanent Secretary.

Also, in this workshop the final report on Impacts of Climate Change on Children was finalised after incorporating the ideas of the participants.
