The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with the United Nations Country Team, have celebrated United Nations Day in Maldives. The Foreign Secretary of Maldives Ahmed Sareer and United Nations Resident Coordinator of the United National Shoko Noda, delivered brief remarks at the event, on the importance of partnership and cooperation.
To mark the occasion, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim also released a message which reiterated the unwavering belief of Maldives in the noble principles and objectives of the United Nations, which was founded in 1945, as a beacon of hope that is an exemplar of human cooperation and understanding. The Minister's Message outlined the important areas where the United Nations has been an instrumental partner for the Maldives in its trajectory to greater development over the years.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Public Service Media (PSM) hosted a TV programme in which the work of the United Nations in the Maldives, as well as the role of Maldives in the United Nations was discussed.
