Efforts underway for Maldivians to travel to UAE without a Visa

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim has revealed that efforts are underway in organising means for Maldivians to travel to United Arab Emirates (UAE) without a VISA.

During the trip of the President to Abu Dhabi, four key agreements were signed between the Governments of Maldives and UAE, including the agreement signed on Mutual Exemption of Entry Visas for holders of Diplomatic Passports.

Speaking to PSM News regarding the agreement, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim stated to implement travelling without a VISA, the first stage is the exemption of VISA free entries to diplomatic passport holders. The Foreign Minister assured the first stage of the process has now been completed.

The Foreign Minister stated that efforts of organising means for all Maldivians to travel to UAE without a Visa have now begun. Furthermore, Minister Asim added that government prioritises Visa free agreements with other foreign countries as well.

Ambassador of Maldives to UAE Dr. Hussain Niyaz said that under the efforts of Visa free entries to UAE, the work of establishing a Maldivian Embassy in UAE is in process. The trip of President Yameen to UAE further strengthened and diversified trade, increased technical and financial assistance, and further accelerated socioeconomic ties between the two countries.
