Minister says students need to be familiar with curriculum

Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Shiham has stated that students and parents need to be better familiarised with the educational curriculum introduced in 2015.

While answering questions posed on a Talk Show, aired on PSM News, Education Minister Dr. Aishath Shiham stated that efforts to further familiarise students and parents with the newly implemented curriculum needs to be bolstered. Parents need to be informed of the new changes and the components covered in the new curriculum, added the Education Minister. She noted that text books have additional and optional information for students, and that the core components of the curriculum can be covered before the end of the year.

The Education Minister further highlighted various advancements made by the education sector in the past couple of years. She specifically noted the advancement of infrastructure, introduction and implementation of inclusive education and increase of scholarships.

Transformational changes have been brought to the education sector in the past three years, with USD 20 million spent on its development so far this year. There are over 78,000 students enrolled in 212 educational institutes across the country, according to Education Ministry statistics.
