AAI to invest USD 45 million for the development of Gan Airport

Addu International Airport Private Limited (AAI) has revealed plans to invest USD 45 million for the third phase of the development of Gan International Airport.

The first and second phase of the development of Gan International Airport have been completed last year. The completion of third phase of the project would boost the tourism industry in Addu city, according to AAI.

Under the project, a luxurious 300 bed resort would be established, which will include 30 marine villas, 60 beach villas and 2 guest house complexes with 30 rooms. The company has currently completed the topographic survey, concept planning and the financial feasibility study for the resort.

In addition to the resort, the expansion of cruise tourism has also been budgeted under the USD 45 million project. Under this project the main jetty in Gan is to be equipped with facilities for docking yachts and cruise liners. The project would in turn cater towards the expansion of the Gan airport apron and expansion of cargo business in the region.
