Tourist arrivals from European countries to Maldives have crossed over 409,800 by the month of August this year. This is an increase of 11%, year on year.
European tourists register the maximum tourist arrivals to the country. European tourists mostly arrived from France, Germany, England, Italy and Russia, according to the latest statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism. While the total tourist arrivals from Russia crossed over 30,900, which is an inflation of 35% compared to that of the year 2016, total tourist arrivals from Italy received a boost of 23%. England tops the list of tourist arrival from the European countries by registering a total arrival of over 68,000.
In addition to these countries, the prominence and popularity of Maldivian tourism industry is gaining momentum in countries such as Switzerland, Austria and Spain by registering big boost in the tourist arrivals.
