President assures to ensure the needs of people are fulfilled

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has assured that his administration will go to great lengths to ensure the fulfillment of the people's needs, even by generating more resources. The President made the statement while speaking at a function held by the Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

Speaking at the event, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom said that the small size of the Maldives did not make it resourceless, and that the administration will ensure that needs of everyone are fulfilled even if means generating more resources. In his speech, President Yameen emphasised on the developmental projects conducted by the administration.

In this regard, he shed light on the accomplishments made during the last four years, especially in the area of health sector. The President highlighted that the administration is the first in the country's history to ensure 24-hour electricity service in each Maldivian island.

Furthermore, the President reiterated that this administration will ensure the recovery of State assets lost. He underscored that all necessary investigations will be carried out, and that the responsible party will be brought to justice. This administration has spent 1.5 billion rufiyaa to conduct developmental projects in Addu City over the past four years, which includes the project to renovate Equatorial Convention Centre (ECC) into a 100-bed tertiary hospital, added the President Yameen during his speech. Moreover, he revealed that the manifesto of the current administration for 2018 will be disclosed in November.

The function held at the Capital City, Male', was attended by cabinet members, parliament members, government officials and members of the general public. The gathering celebrates the four successful years of the government. It also kicked off the anniversary celebrations of PPM.
