Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure has revealed that the project of establishing a tertiary hospital in the Equatorial Convention Centre in Addu city would be completed and launched by the end of June next year.
Under the aim of strengthening the health sector throughout the nation, the government has helmed the transformation of the Equatorial Convention Centre to a tertiary level hospital. The USD10 millionproject contracted to Alia Constructions Private Limited would be established by bringing major architectural changes equipped with latest technological advancements to the previously existing structure of the Equatorial Convention Centre.
This tertiary level hospital is expected to bring revolutionary advancements to the health sector service in the southern region of the country.
Currently the effort of expansion is proceeding at the site and highlighted that the project is proceeding at a fast pace, revealed Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure. The Housing Ministry further revealed that the project of establishing a tertiary hospital would be completed and launched by the end of June next year. The project is funded by the government of Saudi Arabia and OPEC fund.
The Maldivian government has recently transformed the Kulhudhufushi Regional hospital in Haa Dhaalu Atoll to a 150-bed tertiary hospital and has contracted its operations to India-based Noorul Islam International Private Limited. The administration of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has been exerting major efforts to establish tertiary level hospitals.
