Public Service Media (PSM) jointly with the Embassy of Japan in Maldives have decided to hold two concerts as a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Maldives and Japan.
The Japanese Traditional Drum Group, SAI, and Maldivian Traditional Boduberu Group, Habeys, will be performing in the concerts. Five members of SAI group arrived to Maldives today. Upon their arrival, the senior members of PSM met with the members of the group.
During the meeting, the Managing Director of PSM Ibrahim Khaleel welcomed them and expressed hope to experience Japanese culture during the concert. Speaking regarding the concert, Director E-Commerce and Marketing Ibrahim Nasreen highlighted the difference of cultural drum in Maldives and Japan. He expressed hope that a lot of people will go and experience the cultural differences of both countries.
The Japanese Traditional Drum, known as, Wakaido, in Japan is the most historical musical instrument. Japanese Wadaiko have a long history and is closely connected with Japanese history. In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Maldives and Japan, a series of events will be held to deepen the existing the positive relations between the two countries. Japan has issued special commemorative stamps on the 50th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Maldives and Japan.
