Minister of Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim has revealed plans to solve and enhance the challenges faced in using home solar systems.
Installing solar panels in the households would decrease the cost of electricity, the Environment Minister noted while addressing the conclusion ceremony of the Workshop on Challenges in Scaling up Home Solar Systems in Maldives. The one-day workshop acted as a medium to understand the financial and administrative challenges in households in using solar systems.
Members of Ministry of Environment and Energy, Fenaka Corporation, State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) and relevant authorities took part in the workshop. Government aims to increase the amount of renewable energy usage from 6MW to 20MW before 2020.
