Local Organisation, Islamic Foundation of Maldives has donated about USD 65,000 to Rohingya Muslim refugees in Bangladesh.
The funds raised by Islamic Foundation were presented to Islamic Relief Worldwide. Islamic Relief Worldwide is an organisation which works actively to help the Rohingya Muslims fleeing Myanmar.

The special team of the Islamic Foundation which travelled to Bangladesh was headed by President of the Islamic Foundation Ibrahim Fauzee, along with Secretary General Ibrahim Nazim and the former Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Abdul Majeed Abdul Baree. Speaking regarding the visit to Bangladesh, the President of the foundation stated that the visit has made them more aware of the grave situation faced by Rohingya Muslims.
More than half a million Rohingya refugees have fled Myanmar since August 25, after military forces of the Buddhist-majority country launched a brutal crackdown on the Muslim-minority community.
