President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that the role of senior citizens in nation building does not conclude with old age and described senior citizens as the greatest assets and treasures of the nation.
Addressing the key note at the ceremony held to meet the senior citizens, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom highlighted that senior citizens are the guiders of the young generation and they are the people who have served the nation in uncountable ways.
On this note, President Yameen highlighted that the work cannot go in vain and they are not to be forgotten. The President further stated that the senior citizens have attained a lot of knowledge and experience in their life span and this can be used to guide and direct the nation to a better and prosperous future.
President Yameen stated that the current administration has provided many ways of involvement of senior citizens nation building using their expertise. President Yameen concluded his speech by stating that the nation belongs not to one individual but to all the citizens and senior citizens also should have a role in nation building.
