President conveys greetings to Chinese President and Premier

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has conveyed greetings and good wishes, to President Xi Jinping and Premier of the State Council of China Li Keqiang, on the occasion of the 68th National Day of China.

In his message to President Xi Jinping, the President noted that this year marks 45 years of historic ties between the Maldives and China and that the existing partnership between the two countries have become far stronger, stable and mutually beneficial in recent years. On behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, the President conveyed thanks and appreciation for the continued assistance from China that has significantly contributed to the socio-economic development of the Maldives. He also conveyed assurances of his commitment to continue working closely with President Xi Jinping to foster the bilateral relations based on friendship and understanding, for the common benefit of both countries and their peoples.

In a separate message to Premier Li Keqiang, the President highlighted that the Maldives and China have established deep bonds of friendship and cooperation and expressed his hope for a stronger development partnership in the years to come, grounded in common interests, understanding and reciprocity.

The National Day of China commemorates the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.
