Maldives reiterates commitment to the Palestinian cause

The Maldives has called upon the international community to prioritise the process to seek lasting peace for the people of Palestine. The Maldives made the call in a statement delivered at the 36th United Nations Human Rights Council.

The statement delivered by Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Maldives to the United Nations in Geneva Dr. Hala Hameed at the 36th United Nations Human Rights Council stated that the Maldivian delegation at the 36th Human Rights Council reiterates the view that an independent, sovereign State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, established along the 1967 borders, is the only solution for lasting peace. Maldives also condemned Israel's systematic violations of the human rights of Palestinians, including the right to property, freedom of movement, development, and self-determination.

At the 36th United Nations Human Rights Council, Dr. Hala Hameed reasserted full solidarity and support for the people and the State of Palestine.
