International Conference on Islamic Awakening 2017 concludes

The International Conference on Islamic Awakening (ICIA) 2017 has concluded in the Maldives.

The conference, organised by Islamic University of Maldives (IUM), was held on 23 and 24 of this month. The annual international conference was held to provide opportunity to engage in open, critical and constructive discussions.

This year, the conference focused discussions on enabling sustainable and resilient growth of Islamic Finance industry through innovation and leadership. The conference was held in an attempt to bring the industry leaders, researchers and educators together in order to find out the solutions for the issues faced by Islamic Finance industry and also to discuss the roadmap for future developments.

During the opening of the ICIA 2017, Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed also launched the first ever multi-language guideline for scholarly work. The two day conference was attended by local and international experts in Islamic Finance, including officials from Jordan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sudan, Egypt and Palestine.

The conference included professionals working in the banking and Islamic Finance sector and students studying Islamic Finance. During the conference, some local institutions presented papers on various issues related to Islamic Finance, including papers by Hajj Corporation Limited, Ministry of Islamic Affairs, National University of Maldives and Anti-Corruption Commission of Maldives.
