China and Maldives sign the conclusion of FTA negotiations

China and Maldives sign the conclusion of the China-Maldives Free Trade Agreement negotiations.

The memorandum of understanding was signed between Ministry of Commerce of China and the Ministry of Economic Development of Maldives. The conclusion of the China-Maldives Free Trade Agreement negotiations were signed after a meeting held in China.

The memorandum was signed with Minister of Economic Development of Maldives Mohamed Saeed and the Minister of Commerce of China Zhong Shan. At the last session of the negotiations, China expressed interested in fisheries sector of the Maldives and the negotiations were concluded as Maldives proposed. The two sides will carry out the legal text review of the agreement and perform domestic procedures to prepare for the formal signing of the agreement.

The government of the Maldives is currently working on establishing free trade agreements with Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Japan and America.
