Ministry of Gender and Family, in association with United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), have concluded a training programme held to develop the skills of social workers.
The programme titled Capacity building for Social Workers was held from September 10 to 14 at Champaa Central Hotel. The training programme was attended by 27 social workers posted in Family and Children Service Centres established by the Ministry in the Atolls.
Speaking at the closing of the training programme, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Gender and Family, Aminath Shifana stated that taking care of vulnerable victims taken under the care of the state is a major responsibility of social workers. She said that participants should practically apply all that they have learned during the training during their work, especially in taking care of children, elderly and people with special needs.
