The state owned, State Trading organisation (STO) has announced an increase of 0.2 rufiyaa from a diesel litre and an increase of 0.30 rufiyaa from a petrol litre.
Following the changes, a litre of petrol will be sold for 8.95 rufiyaa and a litre of diesel will be sold for 8.64 rufiyaa. The changes were made due to the increase of oil prices in the foreign market, according to STO.
The latest price reduction by STO was made on June 18 which was attributed to the amendment brought to the Export Import Act, passed by the Parliament on June 14 to reduce the 10 percent duty charge to 5 percent from diesel and patrol.
