Islamic Finance Manager of Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), Azmeen Rasheed, has revealed that Maldivians have become more aware of the Islamic Finance products and Islamic Finance policies.
On Maldives Today TV programme, aired on PSM News, speaking about Islamic Finance and the achievements over the past years since its introduction to Maldives, Islamic Finance Manager of Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC), Azmeen Rasheed said that Islamic Finance is a very new concept to the Maldives and to the world. The Islamic Finance Manager revealed that Maldivians have learned much about the Islamic finance products and Islamic Finance policies. However, on the same note, Azmeen Rasheed agreed that much needs to be done to aware the people on Islamic Finance and its efficiency. Azmeen noted that familiarizing people about the product is the most fundamental thing.
Furthermore, the Islamic Finance Manager said that Islamic banking is advancing and Maldives is potential in establishing an Islamic Finance banking system. Azmeen said that the goal is to eliminate ribah or interest in the current banking system and establish a system which conducts trade in accordance with Islam.
