Foreign Minister returns after concluding visit to Turkey

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim returns to Maldives after concluding his two-day visit to Turkey.

During this visit, Minister Asim met with his counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, and discussed a wide range of issues including trade, commerce, tourism and human resource development, aimed at further enhancing the strong bonds of friendship and understanding that exists between the two countries.

Minister Asim and Minister Cavusoglu, also signed two Memoranda of Understanding between the Government of Maldives and the Government of Turkey. The MoUs that were signed were Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey on the cooperation in the field of archives.

During the visit, Minister Asim also met with the Head of the Diplomatic Academy of Turkey Mesut Ozcan. At the meeting, Minister Asim discussed further strengthening cooperation on training of diplomats, through establishing closer links between the Diplomatic Academy of Turkey and the Foreign Service Institute of Maldives (FOSIM).
